Financial Assistance Procedure
The St. Sebastian Parish is firmly committed that no child of an active Parishioner will be denied a Catholic education at our Parish school due to a financial inability to pay tuition. Any Parish family that believes it may have difficulty meeting the tuition obligation for the upcoming school year is encouraged to review the following procedures.
Any Parish family concerned about its financial ability to pay the full tuition must request a Student Aid form. This form must be completed and turned in in early February. As in the past, these forms will be assessed by Private School Aid Service (PSAS) to help determine a family’s ability to pay tuition.
If you are requesting assistance, you must still return the FACTS Agreement Form or the Pay-In-Full Form no later than the February deadline. If an assessment of the student Aid Form results in assistance from the church, the Tuition Preference Form and the FACTS agreement contract will be adjusted accordingly.
If you have a child in another private institution and have already applied for tuition assistance for the upcoming school year please contact PSAS at (440) 892-4272 and request a copy be sent to St. Sebastian School.
The steps to obtain aid are as follows:
- A Parish family that is financially unable to pay tuition must submit a Student Aid Private School Aid Service (PSAS) form. Please call the school office (330-836-9107) or Tim Kastelic (330-836-2233) to request a copy of the form and one will be delivered to you.
- The PSAS form MUST be accompanied by the previous year's federal income tax return for both parents and a check in the amount of $20 made payable to the Private School Aid Service. Since hardship is assessed on an annual
basis, any family seeking "hardship" status even if the family has submitted the form in prior years must submit a Student Aid Form.
If you do not have your Federal Tax Return completed then send in a copy of your most recent Federal Tax Return and copies of your current W2’s. - Once the results from PSAS have been returned to the Church, a Financial Council subcommittee will review the information and make a determination on the level of assistance.
Note: At no time will personal information, including names, be shared with individuals other than those on the Subcommittee. - A letter will be mailed out the middle of May notifying you the determination by the subcommittee.
