Father's Bulletin Letter 2.9.2025

Feb 07, 2025

Greetings,

His Holiness, Pope Francis, has declared this year a Jubilee Year. A Jubilee Year is a special year in the Catholic Church, traditionally celebrated every 25 years, where the
focus is on forgiveness, reconciliation, renewal of faith, encouraging people to undertake pilgrimages, and reflect on their spiritual lives. The concept originates from the Jewish tradition where a Jubilee year was observed every 50 years, signifying the return of land and freedom for slaves as described in the Book of Leviticus. As this is the 2025th year since the Incarnation, we are called to celebrate this year in a special way.

Bishop Malesic has designated eight parishes and three shrines as sacred sites, places of pilgrimage in the Diocese of Cleveland at which a plenary indulgence may be obtained. The sites have been chosen to be geographically accessible to the faithful throughout the entire diocese. Those faithful who are unable to participate for serious reasons (e.g., the elderly, the sick, prisoners, etc.) may obtain the indulgence by uniting themselves in spirit with those taking part in person and reciting the Our Father, the Profession of Faith, and other prayers while offering up their sufferings or the hardships of their lives.
