Father's Bulletin Letter 6.21.20
Jun 18, 2020
Greetings,
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! Thank you to all of our Dads and mentors who are more valuable in their role than they can ever imagine. Please say a prayer for them and for our future dads and mentors that we may build up our culture ever stronger and healthier.
IN OTHER NEWS:
FIRST COMMUNIONS: Congratulations to our communicants who celebrated their First Holy Communions both last weekend and this. Due to COVID, we were unable to have our large class Mass and so have divided them up into a few smaller groups, one of which will be held yet in the fall if everything remains as safe as it seems. Please say a prayer for them!
ALL HANDS ON DECK: We still haven’t received the “all clear” to bring back many of our ministers including servers and that would have made our Corpus Christi processions lasts week difficult at best! But, thanks be to God, we had the seminarians who are staying at our parish as well as several seminarians who came in to help out (and because Marcy said she would make them a Sunday dinner.) Thanks and prayers to:
Charles Bulger St. Mary, Avon Kevin Cush St. Luke, Lakewood
John Desmarteau St. Columbkille, Parma Michael Garvin St. Hilary, Fairlawn
James Parisi St. Hilary, Fairlawn
The seminarians in residence at St. Sebastian:
Cameron Ferrell Ss. Peter and Paul, Doylestown
Joseph Truong Viet Ho St. Boniface, Cleveland
Ian Kelly St Charles Borromeo, Parma
And from our parish helping out: Liam Eitman
Please keep them and all contemplating a Church vocation in your prayers. Also, thank you to everyone who helped out with all the “behind-the-scenes” work that needed to take place to make our celebration possible. Also, the altar frontal used that day is a recent donation to the parish. It was handmade and is probably almost a century old and still beautiful.
OUTSIDE MASS: Because many of our parishioners have expressed that they feel safer in this time of COVID with an outdoor Mass option, we will attempt to continue it for at least a little while. Unfortunately it is completely dependent on the weather and even if you are paid to do so, predicting weather is not an easy thing to do. On Friday, the Angelus Letter will come out with our best prediction as to whether or not there will be an outdoor Mass on Sunday.
JOSEPH HO: He is a seminarian from Vietnam but will be serving in the Diocese of Cleveland. Here is a letter of introduction:
Hello everyone,
My name is Joseph Truong Viet Ho, and you can call me Joe. I am twenty nine years old and came to the United States from Vietnam almost two years ago. My home parish is Saint Boniface in Cleveland. I am a seminarian at Saint Mary Seminary for the Diocese of Cleveland. I am still learning English while taking pre-theology classes at the seminary. This summer, I am lucky to be sent to stay in your parish. Father John Valencheck and Father Anthony Simone are the great priests. I hope that I will learn a lot here not only the language but other things such as culture, parish activities, and getting to know people. I am a kind of athletic person. I enjoy playing soccer, volleyball, and ping pong… Also I would like to involve with other activities in the parish. Staying in your parish is a new experience for me. I hope that with your help, I will have a wonderful summer and keep growing in discernment on my vocation.
Thank all of you for welcoming me.
Joseph.
CONCERT: Next weekend, weather permitting, there will be a Concert on the Plaza, Sunday, June 28th at 5PM. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, a picnic if you wish, spread out and enjoy the afternoon.
God bless,
Fr. Valencheck
