Father's Bulletin Letter 6.5.22

Jun 02, 2022

Greetings,

This weekend June 4, at the 4:30pm Saturday Mass, we welcome newly ordained Fr. Joseph Menkhaus as our celebrant. Fr. Menkhaus was ordained for service to our diocese on May 21. Come and pray with him and please keep him in your prayers. It is a double blessing since this weekend is also Pentecost weekend!

IN OTHER NEWS:

OTHER EVENTS AT YOUR PARISH:

EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION:  There will be a Corpus Christi procession following the 9:00am Mass on June 19. Even if you attend another Mass, please consider being part of this event to honor our Eucharistic Lord.

CONCERT:  The Akron Symphony Chorus will be performing in our church on Sunday, June 5, at 7:00pm.

CONCERT II:  The Greater Cleveland Chamber Choir will be performing in our church on Saturday, June 11, at 7:00pm.

ASSISTED HEARING:  Parish Council has asked me to remind the parish that we have assisted hearing devices available for Mass. They pick up the Sound Loop which comes directly from our sound system to your ears through disposable earphones.

TOOK A BREAK DURING COVID?:  The Diocese of Cleveland is having the first training for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) that it has had in a couple of years. This is great since we are a bit short handed. If you are interested in the training, please call the rectory. In the meantime, if you are an EMHC and had taken a break during COVID and are willing to return to the ministry particularly at the 4:30pm Mass, please let us know.

USHERS:  I am also putting out a call to ushers, particularly for the 4:30pm Mass to consider returning to the basket! And if you would like to volunteer to usher when you happen to be at that Mass and are dressed down, let the ushers know that you are available.

WHY ISN’T WORK HAPPENING ON MULL AVENUE?:  The answer is I do not know, a least officially. The job has been granted to a construction company but, if my sources are accurate, there is a delay in obtaining some of the essential materials needed to do the job correctly, which may put off the work for another year. We hope to have a meeting with the city soon to find out more. I’ll let you know when I hear.

PARISH COUNCIL:  I would like to thank Parish Pastoral Council for all of their hard, behind the scenes work. This is the time of year when one third of the council rolls off and new members take up the torch. Thank you to Tracie D’Antonio, Christina Mastromatteo, Alex Mathis and Ivan Ortiz for all of your efforts on behalf of the greater parish. Welcome to Ana Borges, Will Gibson, Hannah Paulin and Linda Saliga for picking up the torch! Please say a prayer for your parish council!

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
