Father's Bulletin Letter 7.7.24
Jul 02, 2024
Greetings,
Fr. Bozek’s first weekend at his new parish went well. The reason you did not see the seminarians here for Sunday Mass last weekend is that they traveled up to St. Barbara to help Fr. Bozek celebrate his first Masses and help move in the last of his things to the rectory.
Late Sunday afternoon Fr. Marcelli began to move his things into the St. Sebastian rectory. That evening a few priests and seminarians came for dinner not only to welcome him to the parish but also to our diocese! As I write this to you, he is celebrating his first Mass here on Monday morning. We have not even had a chance to talk very much yet to figure out how to live and work together. The blessing is that his dog Rover and Joan of b’Arc seem to get along swimmingly.
IN OTHER NEWS:
AWAY: I will be away for most of this week on retreat. Fr. Marcelli, Joan and Rover will hold down the fort.
TRICASTER: Our live streaming is back up and running. Thank you, Wayne Johnson, for your work on that project!
HANDICAP PARKING: The handicap parking spaces near the front of the church are missing. This was not done on purpose. When the painters came out after the blacktopping, they followed Google Earth to put the lines back down. Unfortunately, the available satellite image had not been updated and showed the old formation without the handicap spaces. We are looking in to having that changed.
PARISH FESTIVAL: August 1, 2 and 3 will be our parish festival. It is slowly building up and being experimented with so that when we reach the 100th anniversary of the parish, it is full up and swinging.
EVENING OF WINE & ART - AUGUST 1: This will be an evening displaying the work of such artists as Mother Mary Thomas PCPA, Eric Armusik, Mother Iliana and more. There will be wine and hors devours, a talk on art and an auction. Tickets are on sale now! Find more information elsewhere in the bulletin.
PIG ROAST & BOURBON TASTING - AUGUST 2: This event was a smash hit last year and, unfortunately, as of this writing it is SOLD OUT! The pig is roasted all day and attendees enjoy a fine meal, are treated to a bourbon tasting and enjoy an evening of fellowship in the rectory garden.
FAMILY FUN DAY - AUGUST 3: There will be games, food and lots of activities for the whole family. Come for the whole evening or for as long as you wish! It begins after a procession with the St. Sebastian statue following 4:30pm Mass that day. See you there!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: You are needed to help make this event run well and smoothly. Please contact Ana Borges at apbsaab@gmail.com if you are interested in helping.
God bless,
Fr. Valencheck
