Father's Bulletin Letter 1.28.24

Jan 24, 2024

Greetings,
Happy start of Catholic Schools Week!

We are receiving a lot of recognition since our school achieved National Blue-Ribbon status, but nothing is more important to our mission than forming young men and
women in the Catholic tradition and helping parents raise their children to be Christian ladies and gentlemen. We have so many things about which we can be proud of at our school, our students, faculty, staff and the parish as a whole since it is you who help make this Catholic school possible.

This Sunday there is an open house in the school, and you are invited. Whether you are thinking of sending your child to the parish school or you want to see how the school has changed since you attended. You are invited to stop by and see what is happening at your parish school.

IN OTHER NEWS:

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL: Saturday, February 3 is our annual St. Sebastian International Festival. The International Festival is not only a fun day of international food, cultural events and games, your participation helps keep our sanctuary well-funded. Sanctuary Society, the oldest organization in the parish, sponsors this event and in turn uses the proceeds to keep your parish sanctuary stocked with candles, breads, wine, vestments, altar cloths and all manner of things associated with the sanctuary.
Thank you to all of our volunteers and to all of you who attend and help support the parish.

ICON DISCPLAY: To help us celebrate St. Sebastian Day, there is an Icon Display in the Padre Pio Chapel which will remain up through this weekend.

PASTA DINNER: SOLD OUT! It was great celebrating our patronal feast day with those who were able to get tickets before it sold out! Thank you to all our volunteers!

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS: We currently have ten adults and four children preparing to enter the Church at the Easter Vigil this year. If you attend the 9am Mass, you may have seen some of them leaving following the homily. Please keep them in your prayers.

LENTEN MISSION: Lent is coming up quickly. Ash Wednesday will be February 14, also known as St. Valentine’s Day! Our Lenten Mission this year will be February 25-27 with Fr. Thomas Blau OP, He is one of the National Eucharistic Preachers for the year of Eucharistic Revival.

PRIESTS VS SEMINARIANS: If you are looking for something interesting to do, this Sunday at 6pm at St. Edward High School, there will be a basketball game between old and wise priests and young and inexperienced seminarians. Come root for your favorites. Suggested donation at the door is $2. (No, neither Fr. Bozek nor I am playing.)

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
