Father's Bulletin Letter 8.11.24

Aug 08, 2024

Greetings,
Thank you to all the planners, volunteers, seminarians, staff and especially Paulo & Ana Borges for all of your dedicated work in putting on a phenomenal 96th anniversary
party for your parish family! The rain made it a little challenging (after practically no rain falling for most of the summer) but you were up to the task, and it was a wonderful three days.

Thank you also to all our sponsors and those who donated to make the three days a successful celebration in thanks to God and our patron saint for so greatly blessing us at this parish. And, of course, thank you to everybody who participated. It would not be much of a celebration if the community being celebrated was not there!

This past week found me pondering how truly blessed we are here at St. Sebastian Parish. As people got the opportunity to talk to Fr. Marcelli a bit more, it was reassuring to hear people tell him how much they think of their parish and how fortunate they feel to be here and that soon he will too. The missionary priest who was here, Fr. Purcival, made much the same comments. He has been over much of the United States and has visited many parishes, and he complimented this parish greatly for its love of God and the spirit of its parishioners.

Please continue to pray for our parish. As we approach one hundred years of prayer and service, may the spirit continue to inspire and build this community up guided by the great intercession of St. Mary and our patron St. Sebastian.

IN OTHER NEWS:

HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION:

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

  • Wednesday, August 14 at 7pm Mass
  • Thursday, August 15 at 9am & 7pm Masses

FR. VALENCHECK AWAY: I was away all last week. If you were trying to get in touch with me (or Joanie), I will be back on Tuesday.

FAREWELL SEMINARIANS: While I was away, the seminarians returned to their studies in Wickliffe. It was so inspiring and fun to have them here over the summer months. Please keep John, Christopher, Simon and Connor in your prayers as they head back to the seminary and also those of our parish who are considering a priestly or religious vocation.

MISSIONARY: If you were unprepared to give to the missions last weekend and wish to make a donation, you may still do so by delivering you donation to Cathy Sivec in the rectory office. Please make sure that it is clearly marked.

God bless,
Fr. Valencheck
