U.S. Department of Education
Learn MoreWelcome back to a new and exciting school year! I am filled with joy and anticipation for all the growth, learning, and achievements that await us. Last year, we celebrated a tremendous milestone by receiving the National Blue Ribbon Award for the first time in our school’s history. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and spirit of our entire school community. I look forward to building upon this success as we continue to nurture our students in faith, knowledge, and service.
Thank You
I want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to Anne Dennee, who has been the heart and soul of the Brick Lot Newsletter since its inception in 2014. Anne's dedication and imagination have shaped the newsletter into an invaluable resource for our school, keeping our parish community informed and connected. Her hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we were truly blessed to have her talents guiding this important aspect of our school life. And...taking the torch from Anne, I am pleased to welcome Jennifer Smee as the new Brick Lot creator and editor! We are excited to have Jennifer’s creativity and passion move the Brick Lot forward for our school community.
School Theme: “Rooted in Christ, Sustained by Living Waters”
Drawing inspiration from Psalm 1:3, this year’s school theme centers on the image of a blessed person as "a tree planted near running water, that yields its fruit in due season, and whose leaves never fade." At St. Sebastian Parish School, we believe that God is the source of our life, and just as a tree must be deeply rooted near life-giving waters, so must we be rooted in the love and grace of Christ.
Integrating Project WET and Catholic Stewardship: Our teachers, having undergone Project WET training, will guide students in exploring the vital role water plays in sustaining all life. Through engaging lessons that spark natural curiosity and foster critical thinking, students will come to understand the significance of water in our world and the responsibility we have as Catholics to to be stewards of God's creation. Through service projects and environmental stewardship initiatives, students will put their faith into action, protecting the precious gift of water and ensuring its availability for future generations.
Eucharistic Revival: As we journey through the third year of the Eucharistic Revival in this year of mission, we reflect on the transformative power of the Eucharist. Just as Jesus nourished and healed the crowds during His earthly ministry, He continues to meet us in the Eucharist, offering us life and strength, propelling us into a new chapter of faith and mission. St. Sebastian Parish School is committed to fostering a deep connection to the Eucharist, the ultimate source of life. As we teach our students about the essential role of water in the physical world, we will also guide them to recognize the spiritual nourishment that comes from the Eucharist. This year, we will walk with our students as they grow in their faith, rooted in Christ and sustained by the living waters of His love, preparing them to go forth and share that love with the world.
