Happy Father’s Day! It is a special Father’s Day this year as this is the year of St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus. Here is a prayer to St. Joseph written by Pope John XXIII:

St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect those who trustingly come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you because they know you will understand and protect them. You too knew trial, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through intimacy with God's Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as you have done.

SUMMER 7:00am MASS RETURNS: St. Sebastian Sunday Summer Seven Sunrise Service starts soon! Actually, this weekend. It will be a simple Mass without music. Doors will be unlocked about 6:30am. This Mass will continue until the end of summer.

BRING YOUR OWN PICNIC/CONCERT COMING SOON! The Jazz Guys will be performing in the school courtyard on Thursday, June 24th from 6:00 to 7:00pm. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, bring a picnic or a snack, bring your family, date or friend and get outside and enjoy some music below the shade of the grand oak trees.

COMMITMENT SUNDAY: Next Sunday is Commitment Sunday for the “Heart of a Shepherd” Campaign. This is a diocesan wide campaign that all parishes will eventually take part in. There will be a request made of you to consider making a pledge to the campaign that is payable over three years. The monies returning to the parish are being used for updates to our church building including new heating and cooling and the moving of our baptismal font. Full details will be coming to you next week. Thank you to those who have donated in advance.

MULL AVENUE: It appears that the funding for Mull Avenue is almost sorted out. The plan is to resurface Mull Avenue from the circle to the far side of Schneider Park in brick in order to preserve the character of the neighborhood. Brick obviously costs more than typical surfacing and so there will be an assessment and if you notice, most of this stretch is taken up by city parks, followed by our parish, and then a small smattering of houses. There will be a community meeting with the city hosted by St. Sebastian Parish coming up soon. Keep an eye out for details.
