Father's Bulletin Letter 11-14-21

Nov 11, 2021

Greetings,

Good news! St. Sebastian Parish will be receiving a replacement parochial vicar for Fr. Morris, who was reassigned to become pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish. The Rev. Jozef Bozek began moving into the rectory this past Monday. Fr. Bozek, born and raised in Pilzno, Poland, a small town in the south of Poland, was ordained to the priesthood in Rzeszow, Poland, May 13, 1999, and served as a priest there until April, 2013, when he came to the United States and was assigned to the Diocese of Cleveland.

He served for five years among the Polish community of St. Stanislaus and then was assigned to St. Gabriel Church in Concord where he served for three years. Finally, he came to us after serving at Sts. Edward and Lucy.

I will be getting to know him along with you as we have never met before! You should be able to see him regularly, he will be celebrating Masses by November 10. Please keep him and the parish in your prayers. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE CELEBRANT FOR MASSES THIS MONTH IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS WE WELCOME FR. BORZEK TO THE PARISH.

IN OTHER NEWS:

FAMILY ADVENT NIGHT: I will be leading a Family Advent Night on Saturday, November 20, at 7:00pm in Zwisler Hall. There will be a short presentation on Advent, some prayer, an advent calendar art project and the makings of an advent wreath to take home. (And a snack. Where two or three are gathered in His name, we will serve snacks.) See elsewhere in this bulletin for more details. Reservations are a must. Please call Cathy Sivec at 330-836-2233.

ADVENT WREATH CANDLES: A limited amount of advent wreath candles will be available for sale at the back east entrance to the church next weekend.

ADVENT ORGAN RECITALS: During advent there will be short organ recitals in the church at noon during Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament by young organists in our area.

WORK AROUND THE PARISH: The air conditioning is finally being repaired! All the equipment is off of a ship that has been sitting in the ocean and has made its way across the country to Akron! Preliminary work in the boiler room has been taking place this week and on November 20, the old equipment is slated for removal. You should see a large crane on our property during this time. Full installation will take a few weeks.

Also two trees have been added to our property. We lost a tree on the south west end of our property this summer and we are about to lose another one along Mull Avenue to the gas line project. They are both now replaced thanks to a donation from a generous parishioner and the hard labor of a few hardy souls with shovels. The trees are Red Pointe Maples and are expected to show beautiful red foliage in the fall in the coming years. Thank you everybody involved!

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
